At the heart of Rocket, lies a tale of love, resilience, and celebrating individuality. Meet Jenson, our inspiration and the beautiful soul behind our brand.
Jenson, our grandson, was born with a Bilateral complete cleft lip and palate. The day our daughter and son in law found this out at their 20 week scan, is a day that will stay with us forever. We all prepared for his arrival, tried to learn as much as we could and gain as much knowledge as possible to give him the best start in life. The worry and uncertainty vanished the moment he arrived. In our eyes he was perfect in every way and he captured our hearts with his ‘special smile’. 

In particular, he captured the heart of my wonderful Dad, John AKA ‘Gramps’. A man deeply devoted to his role as a caregiver for my beloved  Mum who is battling Alzheimer’s Disease. Jenson became the apple of his Gramps’ eye, and brought fun, love and laughter and made Dad smile on even the toughest days.

In February 2020, just prior to Lockdown, my precious Dad, Gramps and Great Gramps died suddenly and unexpectedly. Not only did we lose Dad but this meant our lovely Mum needed to go into care.

Jenson helped to get us all through some dark days and with his innocence and love for his Great-Gramps found solace in the soaring jets in the sky. Whenever he spots one, he exclaims, “look, there’s Gramps up there on his rocket!”. One particular day he asked, ‘Granny, how does Gramps fly so far in his rocket?’ ‘He has super powers’, I replied. ‘What kind of superpowers Granny?’, came Jensons ever inquisitive reply. ‘you know when you feel happy, its Gramps that powers your smile’ I explained. To this day, he tells everyone that his Gramps flies around high in the sky in his rocket and he powers our smiles. The beautiful innocence of children is just so beautiful isn’t it?.

Out of this profound connection and loss, Rocket was born.  I found purpose in creating a clothing brand that can help boost confidence and self-love for anyone growing up with a ‘difference.’
